Grisbi.app for MacOS X Intel with native GTK+ rendering

Packaged versions of Grisbi software for MacOS X are only available for PowerPC based computers, and use X11 for rendering. It's now time for Intel version of software with native GTK+ rendering to come.

Description

Grisbi.app is a binary distribution of Grisbi for Mac OS X which uses Aqua GTK+ rendering.

Grisbi.app compatibility is:

To install, just drag the Grisbi icon into the Applications folder or anywhere else you would like.

Grisbi.app is packaged by myself (and Gérald Niel for the MacOS X 10.4 and PowerPC version), using the MacPorts project found at http://www.macports.org/ and the Platypus script wrapper from http://www.sveinbjorn.org/platypus/. It's mainly inspired of DarwinGimp (http://darwingimp.sf.net/).

Both Platypus and the Grisbi, along with the rest of Grisbi.app are distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License, described in the accompanying LICENSE.txt file.

Warning: This version of Grisbi.app is not clear of issues (see BUGS.txt file into disk image). I'll try to release the application compiled as universal binary, and with a more polished version of native GTK+. So use at your own risks.

Quick compare: Firefox vs Safari vs Camino

With MacOS X, I can choose between Safari, Firefox and Camino (I really don't like other browsers). Now, I use Firefox, but sometimes I ask myself if I should use Safari or Camino instead of Firefox.

None of the following browsers is perfect, each has its pros and its cons. Then I have to choose the one where pros are the ones I prefers, and the cons are not too annoying.

Safari 3.0:

pros:
- Comes with MacOS X.
- Nice tab management : they may be reordered, moved to another page, and a thumbnail is displayed while reordering tabs.
- Fast launches and interface.
- Looks like a MacOS X software.
- Uses MacOS X keychain.
- Eye candy RSS feeds presentation.
- Picture rendering is able to use ICC profile from the picture.
- Use system spellchecker.
- Session saving while closing browser (with a con, see below).

cons:
- No addons (some plugins exist).
- I don't like history: entries are number limited, unlike other browsers where it's age limited.
- Spellchecker is not complete: not all languages are available, US english only, etc.
- Javascript support seems to be better with other browsers.
- Session restore is not automatic, you have to ask for session restore manually.

Firefox 3.0

pros:
- Nice tab management : they may be reordered, moved to another page.
- Many extensions.
- It use an internal keychain, but it can save many login / password couples for a single website.
- Multiplatform: I can use the same browser the same way with any system I use: MacOS X, Windows, Linux, etc.
- Eye candy RSS feeds presentation (like Safari). And it can add these feeds to online services.
- Integrated spellchecker is able to use many languages and allows to switch between them without restarting anything.
- Session saving while closing browser.
- Picture rendering uses ICC profile from the picture.

cons:
- Slow to start.
- Rendering engine (Gecko) partially uses native widgets (buttons, checkboxes, lists) : if the widget has a style applied, native widget is not used.

Camino 1.5

pros:
- Rendering engine uses native widgets.
- Faster start than Firefox.
- Looks like a MacOS X software.
- RSS feed management, but two basic : you can't preview the feed within the browser but have to subscribe to it with an external reader.
- Uses system spellchecker.
- Correct tab management : you can move tabs to another window.
- Session saving while closing browser.

cons:
- No extensions (interface uses Cocoa and not XUL).
- Few preferences.
- I don't like keychain management: it's not possible to use more than one account with a single website, which may be annoying.
- You can't change spellchecker language.
- Can't reorder tabs within the same window.

Now, Firefox is the one I prefer. And if the issues it suffers could be fixed, it may be the perfect browser for me.

Wiktionary articles can now be edited from within the widget.
User can now change font size.
Added a pull-down menu to the back with the languages of the largest wiktionaries.
The links at the top of search results pages now work.

Searching for an article or clicking a link will no longer use a cached file. This eliminates the case sensitivity problem with certain searches (eg. "duluth, mn").

Delete goes back in history, shift-delete goes forward.

v0.9 (August 24, 2005)

Green, red and grey (along with the good 'ol blue) UI color selections.
Now collapses horizontally as well as vertically.
Individual widget instances remember their respective language settings, sizes and colors upon restart, and clean up the preference file when they're closed.
When you scroll down in an article, then open a new article or go back in the history, the widget will remember where you were scrolled to, so if you return to the article it'll be where you left off.
Localization compatible.
French localization by Floréal Molina (and modified by Arnaud Boudou).
The 'cancel loading' behavior (click the progress indicator) has been fixed, I think. It was pretty flakey when you were 'back' in the history a couple articles, clicked a link, then cancelled the loading. A hover graphic has been added.
A couple scrolling-related bugfixes. Before, if you opened an article too short to fill the entire widget, and pressed the up/down arrows, or scrolled with the mousewheel, the content would jump from the top to the bottom of the viewing area. Also, if you scrolled to the bottom of a large article, then opened a small article, sometimes the small article would be displayed 'offscreen' until scrolling up.
The stretch animation has been smoothed out.
Other small bugfixes.

NOCC Webmail and Wii

As you can see, NOCC webmail works perfectly with Wii browser (Wii uses Opera browser). The only non functional thing is attachment adding as the related HTML control is disabled by the browser.

Description

This plugin allows to automatically switch blog's interface language depending on browser's preferred language settings. A browser sets to display french first will display the blog using french; A browser sets to display english first will display the blog using english, etc.

Warning, this plugin is only to be used with Dotclear 2.x

You have nothing special to do to use this plugin. You just have to install it, then within “about:config” set blog language to blank.

GregariusMenu: Gregarius' best friend

Something was missing to the online aggregator, Gregarius. It was the possibility to have unread posts count without being on Gregarius' page. It's now done.

Description

GregariusMenu is a tool within MacOS X menubar, and displaying unread Gregarius' posts count.
